Free food banks, soup kitchens and pantries in Bergen County New Jersey provide assistance to local individuals as well as families. They help both low income residents and those facing an emergency. Several different pantries can provide free food today, meals, groceries, personal hygiene items. and other support to the needy in the community. Find details below, as well as a phone number at the bottom of the page for other Bergen County food programs/

Find a listing of all the local pantries at charities near you, non-profit food banks, churches, as well as other organizations that are dedicated to providing resources, support, or advice. The programs are available to Hackensack and Bergen County New Jersey residents. There may also be emergency SNAP applications or free Christmas or Thanksgiving baskets as well as Meals on Wheels.

Every year tens of thousands of low income, elderly, disabled, and unemployed access the food pantries across the county. Clients are able to receive help that allows them to make it through a difficult period. Some items provided may include free Christmas and Thanksgiving meals, fresh fruits, vegetables, and emergency food boxes. Many of the charities even have items like baby formula, diapers, personal hygiene or cleaning supplies, and clothing. St. Cecilia Church/Office of Concern

Volunteers collect items from the region, including stores such as Wal-Mart .Income qualified applicants can be given free food, hygiene items, baby formula, and more. They also process applications for the WIC - Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, or have Christmas meals and gifts for families. Immigrants and Spanish speakers can get food, groceries, cultural goods and other supplies.

Center For Food Action
This food pantry (which as multiple locations per below) serves the entire county, including the towns and cities of Carlstadt, Teaneck, East Rutherford, Lyndhurst, Rutherford, North Arlington, Wood-Ridge, Hackensack, and Wallington New Jersey among others. Center for Food Action has multiple locations in the area. They are located below.

 

 

 

The various locations provide residents with a free food pantry, referrals to other charities and social service organizations, or emergency utility bill as well as housing assistance. There is also  budgeting and nutritional counseling, among other resources. Low income and unemployed (or gig workers) in Bergen County can get free groceries, household items like detergent or soap or toilet paper and more.

In addition, they offer personal care products, paper, cleaning supplies, diapers, supermarket gift cards. The non-profit serves meals to the homeless, elderly, and anyone that is hungry, no questions asked. There are also free food programs. This is a non-profit poverty fighting agency. Everything from employment to SNAP food stamps, grants to pay bills, baby formula, WIC vouchers for single mom and other help is offered. Salvation Army Family Services - There are several centers and free, emergency food pantries in Bergen County. Resources include a free food pantry, soup kitchen, as well as Christmas or Thanksgiving meals. They feed students during the summer or holidays, give lunches to the homeless and immigrants, and offer financial aid too.

Gift cards may also be provided for special dietary needs.
  • Englewood Salvation Army, 380 S. VanBrunt St, Englewood, New Jersey 07631, call (201) 503-9400. The non-profit helps the vulnerable. Single moms can request a meal or box of infant formula, there are Christmas food baskets and Angel Tree gift program, and thrift store, and other aid.
