Eviction prevention and emergency rent help is available from several agencies in Beaufort County. The organizations that do provide this service want to pro-actively prevent homelessness. When this can't be done, there may be other solutions to rehouse families, including funds for a security deposit or first months rent payment.
Applications will tend to prioritize working class families that are facing a crisis. Those applicants are more likely to be given a cash grant for any back rent that is due. Almost all clients will need to take actions to improve their financial situation so they can prevent a future eviction.
The housing programs can also deal with other needs. In addition to financial assistance for rent, some homeless families may be placed into transitional housing. Or seniors or the disabled in Beaufort County can explore supportive housing programs.
