Free food pantries, soup kitchens and groceries in Allegheny County and Pittsburgh.

Food pantries as well as soup kitchens in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County will provide assistance in the form of free food, groceries, and/or meals to low-income families or people with no money. There is help for kids, seniors, and the unemployed among others. Find a free food bank near you, that is open today, in Allegheny County.

Rarely will an individual be turned away. If a non-profit distribution center does not have items available for a client, then the staff will often refer a client to a local soup kitchen or other drive-thru pantry near them in the Pittsburgh region. A number of locations that provide food are listed below. There is also a phone number at the bottom of the page for more information - referrals to food programs.

Whether it is perishables items, commodities, non-perishable boxes of groceries, personal toiletries or even health education, the Allegheny County Pennsylvania food pantries can usually assist. Thousands of local residents benefit from their services each and every year. People also stop by for Christmas meals, Thanksgiving turkey dinners or applications to SNAP food stamps, among other services. Locate EBT card food stamp applications near you.

Allegheny County Meals on Wheels
There are multiple sites. Volunteers deliver free meals to senior citizens, the disabled, and homebound. Seniors or the homebouind will get free frozen meals, Ensure, nutritional items, groceries and more. There are also holiday meals, including at Christmas and Easter, delivered in Allegheny County PA.

Salvation Army Social Services and Food Programs in Allegheny County
There are a few food banks, soup kitchens, clothing closets and other resources from this faith based Christian Charity. Many free household or personal hygiene supplies may be offered too, like detergent, soup, diapers (for adults and babies), pots and pans and more. There may also be financial help as well as free holiday food baskets for single moms and the low-income.

In addition to providing food and meals, Salvation Army branches in Allegheny County can usually offer limited amounts of financial assistance for bills and/or information on federal or state of Pennsylvania government assistance programs.

Call to learn about various assistance programs, both financial and others such as food, thrift stores, and clothing. This is the local community action agency. They help the poor, families in or near poverty, unemployed and others.
