Allegheny County and Pittsburgh transitional housing and shelters.

When facing imminent eviction or homelessness in Allegheny County, several transitional housing programs can be called upon. The non-profits that coordinate these resources will offer both a place to stay for the short term and help families find a new, permanent home to live in. This will only occur after they have obtained some stability with their financial situation.

The programs are wide ranging. Some of the non-profits will focus on veterans, single parents, or women. Others units and resources are available for the general public, provided they meet income limits. If a location is not near you, ask for referrals.

Clients of these transitional homes may receive other support as well. This will usually include a meal, access to job training and career counseling, and general life skills training. Case managers also usually partner with area non-profits and government agencies across Allegheny County in an effort to coordinate services and help people apply for aid.
