Crippling disease

Post by LondonFall »

Hi, I'm 32 I was diagnosed with severe chronic autoimmune disease at 2. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis has destroyed all my joints, muscles, cartilage; it's a crippling disease. I'm unable to do anything for myself. I've had 13+ operations. I use wheelchair. The disease also attacks my eyes which took left eye vision. Also chest pains, fluid in lungs, the list goes on.
I don't qualify for make a wish. What organizations can I reach out to regarding my wish and Birthday gifts? In addition I need help paying my debt off $6k one credit card, $4k another card, PayPal account of $3400 and an Amazon account $1800.
This is my first birthday I even made a wish list but because I'm unable to work due to my disability and limited SSD I'm not able to pay off my credit cards or buy myself anything on my Xmas wish list.

To whom it may concern,
I was laid off in April of 2015. My salary at that time was $132000.00. I have been trying to find a new job and been unable as I do not have a college degree. I was lucky enough to work my way up in my industry. I have Celiac Disease (which requires me to adhere to a Gluten Free diet, as Gluten triggers an auto-immune reaction) and Type 2 diabetes and my last employer kept my travel to a minimum and allowed me to work from home as a result of my medical issues. Given the travel requirements of my last position it was clear that I would need to change career fields I recently took my 4 40 Insurance class and know that I will be able to gain employment as soon as that license is processed.
In the interim I have maxed out my unemployment, cashed in my 401K and am currently being reviewed to continue on my food stamps. I am struggling to pay for the prescriptions for my disease that I have because adhering to my diet is far more costly than food stamps can cover. I live in St. Johns, FL 32259 and the rent on my current home is 1900.00 a month. I know that we need to downsize, but not only do I not have the funds to move but I can't afford a deposit or even application fees for apartments at this point. I have one car that is on the verge of being repossessed and the other is now 30 days past due.
My husband is employed through Baptist South and his hourly rate is 11.03 per hour. He tries to pick up as many extra shifts as possible, but we have come to a point where eviction is looking like it is inevitable. I have a 16 year old son who is also working on the weekends to help pay the bills.
I really need someone to point me in the right direction. I do not need long term assistance, I need assistance getting through this month and finding a new place that is within our new income bracket.

Freeing up your income by using a free clinic in Florida for your disease will allow you to pay your rent, deposits, and other costs. The clinics in St. Johns may also have case workers who can offer you job placement services, which will help you even more. We hope you feel better.

Hello,
I am a reader of your site and am writing to ask if you could hep with some info for me.
I have advanced arthritis that is Crippling me in my knees and hips, both sides.
I have heard that getting stem cell treatments could possibly cure both these conditions.
(Or if not cure, at least majorly improve them to the point that I would not have to consider surgeries).
The issue is that insurance does not cover this treatment and it runs +/- $7500.
I am hoping you may have some idea of a place that may cover this cost for me to help me overcome this Crippling disease.
(I am low income on SSI).
Also, other holistic treatments that are not offered by my regular doctors and must be paid for directly.
(The only treatments that have helped for the most part with the arthritis and other conditions).
Thank you!

Thank you for being a reader. there are state insurance programs and other options for people with crippling disease, including disabilities. There are also medications for advanced arthritis, so you have options. But look here for programs near you for the uninsured.
