Retailers, such as Wal-Mart, have put out lists of what they expect to be the top-selling toys for the upcoming 2016 Christmas season. There are some programs that can provide some or all of this stuff for free to kids under the age of 13, we think this could really benefit parents that are struggling to pay the bills on a daily basis.
While no one (not even Wal-Mart!) can predict exactly what item a kid will want and what will be popular, it is more than likely that kids will be demanding toys such as Little Live Pets Puppy, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Batcave, Pie Face Showdown! Game, or the Paw Patrol Zooming Marshal. There are about 20 more that are expected to be in demand, and we have put the full list of them below.
The prices of them range from a few dollars to over $50. The big problem is that these price points can make them very expensive to buy, especially for low to moderate income parents with more than one kid to shop for. While there are no guarantees, some of the 2016 holiday donation programs may be able to give these items out for free to a small number of households
The good news is that there are multiple places to turn to for help acquiring these Wal-Mart toys. There are agencies that operate programs that may give out new toys and other stuff for free, including some of these highest demand ones that Wal-Mart is selling. We have a listing of what charities that offer Christmas help.
This can really benefit parents for this upcoming 2016 holiday season. While no person can expect to get all of these toys for their kid(s), maybe some of the agencies providing support will have one or more of them. Even if a family does not qualify for one of these 2016 Christmas programs, there are other resources that provide poor people with free stuff, some of which are government funded and others that depend on donations.
Highest in demand toys for kids under the age of 13
The 2016 holiday shopping season is really starting right now. The fact is that people start shopping for Christmas gifts earlier and earlier ever year. In fact, we think it is better to start earlier so you can look for sales to save money. Or it provides more time for you to budget properly. Not only that, but many of the charities that may provide these in demand toys for free also require you to apply for them early.
Many layaway programs also start in September 2016. In fact, Walt-Marts began on the second day of the month. While these will not necessarily help a parent acquire the toy for free, they can be effective as a budgeting tool. There was a study down by Reuters in which they noted that layaway plans may account for 15% of the expected holidays sales in areas of the country that have higher levels of poverty.
The demand for help, including for free toys such as FurReal Friends Torch, My Blazin’ Dragon, Fisher Price Imaginext Bat Flight City, Sky Viper Streaming Drone, and Star Wars Electronic R2D2 is very high. Considering that Walmart is the world’s largest retailer, what they expect to sell is very powerful. Tens of millions of parents will turn to the retailer to shop for their kid.
As we noted, we have included the list of what Walmart expects to be their top selling toys. As of when we are typing this in early September 2016, it is projected that these will be the toys in demand for the 2016 season. Not this is what kids from the ages of 1 to 12 may want, so it does not include many of the higher priced electronics such as I-Pads or cell phones.

How to get the 2016 WalMart toys for free
Luckily there are millions of people that give back to the less fortunate each year, with an increasing amount of donations occurring during the holiday season. There are programs, such as Angel Tree or Toys for Tots, in which the parent can request one or more of these in demand toys for their kids and they may provide the family with a free gift.
If you sign up for one of these services, and are lucky enough to be accepted, you just need to sit back and hope someone buys one for you. But you should also give back this season as well. Maybe you can’t afford to buy a toy for another kid, but even a low income family can usually find a little free time to volunteer, which costs you nothing. Maybe work at a soup kitchen to serve the homeless or poor, or volunteer at the Salvation Army and help them with their 2016 holiday services.
