Four local non-profits focus on HUD homeless prevention and rapid rehousing. The federal program offers grants for rent to families with children and the homeless. Eblen Charities works with the Buncombe County Department of Social Services and other non-profits as part of the Continuum of Care. Western North Carolina Aids Consortium helps people with HIV and/or AIDs only. Grant money to help pay rent on a private home, housing, medical care and other assistance is offered.
