Jacksonville and Duval County Florida families can get financial assistance to help with rent and paying other housing costs. Locate churches, charities, and government organizations to call for resources. Get rental or security deposit assistance, free landlord-tenant mediation or legal aid as well as affordable housing including section 8. Some of the programs are funded by the federal government and others by private or public donations. The agency provides limited amounts of emergency assistance to help with paying for rent expenses and utilities. Other services are offered too. COJ / Behavioral and Human Services Division runs the Emergency Assistance Program, which may be able to offer limited temporary financial help for rent, security deposits, and other needs. Money is passed out on a first come, first serve basis. Also families with evictions are given priority for the rent relief programs in Duval County. Downtown Ecumenical Services Council, Inc. – Offers rent help for households with elderly, children, or a documented disability or illness which prohibits work. People on SSI or social security will be grant money. Single mothers can also apply for emergency rental assistance. Address is 215 Ocean Street Jacksonville, Florida. Catholic Charities has two locations in Jacksonville and Duval County. They are at 6 E Bay St, Jacksonville, FL 32202 (call 904-354-3416 or try (904) 354-4846) as well as 225 West King Street St. Augustine, Florida 32084 (dial 904-829-6300). The low income, seniors, immigrants, migrant farm workers and others can get emergency grants to pay rent or utilities, help with moving costs or lease application fees, utility connection help, free legal assistance and more. The goal is to stop homelessness or rehouse people.

  • The comprehensive Emergency Assistance Program from Catholic Charity churches provides money on a limited and short-term basis. Support is for people who are experiencing a crisis and pending formulation of long-term solutions. Catholic Charities of Duval County and their churches are a great place to call for referral services to local non-profits or Florida government programs too with help low-income tenants pay rent or a security deposit.

City of Jacksonville Social Services can be reached at 904-630-0696 or 904-630-2469. They offer public assistance, which can help pay back rent, partial mortgage payments, transportation, and other critical bills. It is a form of immediate rental assistance that is for the same day.

Ability Housing Of Northeast Florida and Duval County operates low cost, affordable private rented homes, condos as well as apartments in the region. Arlington Community Services has very limited funding for qualified low income residents. Funds, including zero interest loans, for paying rent, referrals to transitional or low income housing, and other support is offered if resources allow. Northeast Florida Aids Network is only for people with HIV and/or AIDs. The non-profit is part of the Ryan White network, and everything from rent to utility bill help, transportation, low-cost apartments with no credit check needed and more is offered. They are based at 2715 Oak St., Jacksonville, Florida 32205. The goal is to ensure patients with HIV/AIDs, or their families, have the housing and other support they need. Call (904) 356-1612

Rental assistance in Duval CountyJewish Family and Community Services can help people of all religions. The center provides emergency assistance with paying rent and other expenses such as utilities, FEMA assistance, SHIP dollars for deposits, and information about other housing programs. It covers all of Duval County Florida. A major focus is on help seniors over the age of 60 and the disabled pay their rent. Jacksonville and Duval County Housing Authority operates section 8 housing choice vouchers. This is the main income based, low income as well as poverty fighting housing program. In some cases, the non-profit will provide assistance for bills or rent in the form of a loan. Senior Life Foundation, Inc. can pay up to $400 for bills, health care supplies and rent. The applicant needs to be a senior or a caregiver and living on a limited or even fixed income. Rental assistance, while offered, is not common. Phone - (904) 268-9128.

 

 

 

St. Vincent De Paul Conference offers limited, emergency financial help to qualified struggling households including for mobile home lot rent in Duval County. The main parish is the Holy Spirit Catholic Church which is at 11665 Fort Caroline Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32225. Based on donations, limited financial help for electric bills, security deposits, back rent payments, and more. Call (904) 312-3242 to reach the SVDP in Duval County.

Angel Aid is mostly a thrift store, but may have limited funding for bills, housing, and more. Call 904-398-4882. Based on donations and sale of goods, if there are funds, the charity will offer them to help struggling families pay their bills, back rent, offer free furniture for a home or clothes, and other support. Jacksonville Salvation Army offers information, referrals, and emergency rent and housing assistance. There are also homeless shelters as well as motel vouchers for the homeless. Or get information on free government grant programs, financial help for rental arrears or a security deposit or bills from loans, and more is available. Information on charity and government rent programs may be obtained from a Duval County referral line at 904-632-0600. A wide range of resources are available to prevent homelessness or help a family find and pay a portion of first months rent on a new apartment. Clients are the working poor, disabled, seniors, and others.

Duval County HUD grants for rent and housing needs are allocated to the area on an annual basis for offering homeless prevention services. Case workers can provide assistance in the form of motel vouchers or transitional housing for the homeless or families with children. Duval County rent and housing assistance for veterans

Changing Homelessness Veteran Assistance assists low income veterans, the homeless, service members and their families. Get temporary, immediate financial assistance to pay rent, utilities. mortgages, and well as applications to Homelessness Prevention or Rehousing Programs. United States Department Of Veterans Affairs is a government agency with a Jacksonville Florida Vet Center. Rent or security deposit help, and eviction prevention, is for active duty service members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve service members, and the region. There is disability grants for housing, home buying help, tenant resources to stop homelessness such as government grants for rent, Veteran Home loans and other aid.
