Catholic Charities Family and Community Service Centers operate all across the region. Lower to moderate income families of all religions and ages can contact the organization for support as well as case management. Family Support Organization of Gloucester County - Among other services, the location is a NJ SHARES Energy Assistance application site. Grants can help families pay their heating and electric bills. They also work with New Jersey American Water and provide assistance for paying water bills. Gloucester County Division of Health, Senior and Disability Services operates the Division of Senior Services, which can help people who are 60 years of age or older. The non-profit can help provide high-quality and accessible senior services to help all older adults and senior citizens in Gloucester County New Jersey.

Examples of the assistance programs offered include medical services such as Counseling on Health Insurance for Medicare Enrollees (CHIME) and Escorted Transportation/Medical Transportation. Other resources include Home Delivered Meals, free or low cost legal aid, utility bill assistance (including free fans), and vouchers for food or perishable items.

Paulsboro Community Development Center is a center that tries to help the less fortunate, including single parents, seniors, families with children and the working poor. One of the main programs they administer is NJ SHARES Energy Assistance, which can provide qualified individuals with grants to pay their energy and heating bills. People for People Foundation of Gloucester County offers advocacy and financial support to local families. Assistance is for people faced with a loss of employment, sickness, reduction in income, accident, fire or other unforeseen emergency. One of the main programs is Temporary Relief for Utility Expenses (TRUE), which is a one-time financial assistance program designed to help low to moderate income households pay their heating, electric and natural gas bills.

Medical and dental assistance

Gloucester County New Jersey is offering free or discounted health care with no co-pay to qualifying Gloucester County residents. Residents can receive information on the program, and aid, by becoming members at the Glassboro Community Health Center (phone 856-863-5720). They need to bring proof of involuntary job termination or unemployment.

The free health care center, which is run by Community Health Care Inc., offers dental, medical assistance, and top specialists care for both children and adults. They also coordinate with New Jersey to offer onsite enrollment in Medicaid, Charity Care, and NJ FamilyCare. There are also free vision exams for the low income.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In addition, Gloucester County also offers various health care options for children without insurance who range in age from 2 months to 19 years old. The county also has a prescription savings program for all county residents that provides discounted or free drugs, and this plan is designed to promote wellness for seniors, children, working families, and also military veterans.
